Compliance During the development of a product, the process to ensure the products compliance to the applicable government and industry regulations is not always given the priority it deserves. The consequence of the lowered priority can very easily be a delay in delivery of the product to the market. The lowered priority of the compliance process occurs because design staffs tend to be concerned with developing the products overall performance in the future customers application. Arranging for sample products and their necessary support equipment to be exposed to a myriad of unrelated tedious testing activities at possibly more than several different test sites and ensuring all testing is completed (not to mention passed) is not necessarily the first concern of the design engineer. Moreover, it is probably not the best use of the engineer's time. Datatek Applications Inc. has full time personnel that can relieve your design staff from the time-consuming compliance process. And, although it is best for Datatek's personnel to be engaged at the earliest point of the product's development, they can step in during any point of the development from inception to the eleventh hour testing activities that can occur before first ship. |

Compliance Process:
To ensure the timeliest completion of the compliance process for your product, Datatek will go through the following steps. |

Determine Product's Market/Classification
Datatek personnel will meet with your marketing staff to determine the product's customer. Meetings with your engineering staff will determine the customer's application, and product classification (to determine what battery of testing is necessary). If desired, Datatek will also arrange for early design reviews with the applicable test houses to reduce the risk that any product design element will cause a failure during any particular test.
Request Laboratory Testing and Report Bid
Datatek will submit requests for testing bids on behalf of your product. Reported bids with recommendations will then be forwarded to you from Datatek.
Establish Test Schedules
Using the information gathered from the mentioned meetings, Datatek personnel will create test schedules reflecting the use of the determined test configurations, testing required and test house facility availability.
Escort
Test Configuration(s) through Lab Testing
Taking the product configurations through the actual testing products can be the most time consuming portion of the compliance process. Arranging for shipping, setting up the configuration, acquiring the necessary knowledge to operate the configuration and then operating the system at the test site will be taken care of by Datatek personnel. If problems occur during testing, the Datatek techicians will:
Review and Edit Draft Reports:
At the completion of the testing phase, the test houses will issue draft reports documenting the test process and results experienced by your test configuration. These draft reports will be reviewed by Datatek personnel to ensure they accurately reflect the testing type, procedure and most importantly, the configuration your product went through during the test phase. When Datatek personnel are satisfied with the draft reports, they will:
Submit
the Reports for Client Approvals
Your review and subsequent signature will make the document ready for filing.
A record can be used by you to assess future design changes and by the appropriate
regulatory bodies to determine initial and continued compliance.
Submit
(if applicable) Declarations of Conformity
Some regulatory bodies require the filing of Declarations of Conformity (your
company's verification that the product meets the applicable required standard(s)).
Datatek will author these. Your signature will make them ready for any requested
presentation.
